Heard on Hurd street festival returns

Downtown Edmond’s own monthly street food and music festival Heard on Hurd, presented by Citizen’s Bank of Edmond, is back for its 12th season. Few things have done as much for Downtown Edmond and the promotion of walkable spaces for people in Oklahoma than Heard on Hurd.

The first HOH of 2025 in March took place on a windy day (the day after the really windy, wildfire day) but was very well-attended by both visitors and vendors. The setup was packed with food trucks and vendors on Broadway from 1st St. up to Hurd and even curved around on Hurd and extended down to Littler.

Unfortunately the April event was cancelled a few hours in due to some serious thunderstorms. Here's looking to some better weather and great times this summer!

Development Update

Townsend, Ember developments complete TIF agreements with city

Two premier New Urbanism developments in Lower Downtown Edmond were recently had their Tax Increment Financing agreements approved by the Edmond City Council.

The city's agreement with The Townsend at E. 3rd and Littler authorizes up to $3.18 million in TIF financial assistance throughout the project, complementing more than $27 million in private investment. The Townsend is being built by Building Culture.

The Ember by Switchgrass Capital also had its updated TIF agreement approved. The Ember is bringing 23 homes in a cottage court pocket neighborhood to E. 9th and Littler.

Since 2020, more than $150 million in private investment has come to the downtown TIF area, helping generate nearly $18 million in public infrastructure improvements.
